GloriaFood Is Shutting Down: What UK Restaurants Should Do Now

Oracle is switching GloriaFood off on 30 April 2027. New signups are already closed, no replacement is being offered, and Oracle has confirmed that menus, customer records and order history will not be retained after the cutoff. If your restaurant takes orders through GloriaFood, you have a deadline. Here is exactly what to do, in order, without losing a single order along the way. Before anything else: work out what your next system should cost you with the calculator below, and if you would rather talk it through, we are one tap away.

Talk to a real person about switching

How much could you save?

Two quick questions. No sign-up needed.

How many orders per week?

What is actually happening to GloriaFood

Oracle bought GloriaFood in 2021 and has now announced the platform will be fully retired on 30 April 2027. In-app notices and partner emails confirm the details: signups are closed, the product roadmap is frozen, and there is no Oracle-backed successor.

  • On 30 April 2027 the ordering widget on your website stops working.
  • Facebook ordering, the FoodBooking app, payment processing and POS integrations stop with it.
  • Oracle has confirmed no data retention after the cutoff: menus, customer lists, order history and campaign data become permanently inaccessible.
  • No migration tool and no recommended replacement are being provided. Choosing what comes next is entirely on you.

The date sounds far away. It is not. Restaurants that switch ordering systems well typically run the old and new systems side by side for weeks, and the closer to the deadline you leave it, the more crowded onboarding queues at every provider will get.

Step 1: export everything, this week

Your customer list is the most valuable thing in your GloriaFood account, and it is the thing that vanishes at cutoff. Export it first, then everything else.

  1. Download your order history and customer details (names, phone numbers, emails) from your GloriaFood admin.
  2. Save your full menu with prices, options and modifiers, even if only as a spreadsheet or PDF.
  3. Note your delivery zones, minimum order values and charge structure.
  4. Screenshot your promotions and any loyalty settings so they can be rebuilt.

Step 2: decide what kind of replacement you want

GloriaFood was free, and its shutdown is a reminder of how free platforms end: the provider owns the system, so the provider decides when it dies. You have three realistic routes now.

RouteWhat it meansThe catch
Marketplaces only (Just Eat, Uber Eats, Deliveroo)Delete direct ordering and push everything through the appsCommission on every order, often around 14 to 35 percent depending on service, and the platform owns your customers
Another widget providerSwap GloriaFood for a similar embedded ordering formSame structural risk you just experienced, and usually monthly fees plus card charges without a branded app
Your own branded systemYour own iOS and Android app plus ordering website, under your nameA monthly subscription, so it only makes sense if the price is flat and honest

Three routes out of GloriaFood. Check any provider’s current pricing on their own site before deciding.

If you are weighing the marketplace route, run your weekly numbers through our commission calculator first. Commission compounds quietly, and most owners have never seen the yearly figure.

Step 3: what to demand from whatever comes next

  • Your brand on the app and website, not the provider’s. GloriaFood taught everyone that renting a widget is not owning a channel.
  • Your customer data exportable at any time, in a format you can take elsewhere.
  • Flat, published pricing. If you cannot find the price on the website, that is the answer.
  • Delivery handled, whether through your own drivers or a fleet arranged per order.
  • No commission on your own orders. A percentage of every sale is how you ended up needing an alternative.
  • A setup timeline in days or weeks, not months. Your deadline is fixed.

How Aexir replaces GloriaFood

Aexir builds UK restaurants and takeaways their own branded ordering system: an iOS and Android app, an ordering website, QR table ordering, push notifications, loyalty, a POS, and delivery drivers arranged per order. Plans are a flat £30, £40 or £50 a month excluding VAT, published in full on our pricing page, with no commission on your orders. Setup is handled for you, typically live in under 30 days, and your menu and customer data can be loaded from the exports you made in step 1.

The difference from the widget model is ownership: the app carries your name on your customers’ phones, and the direct relationship with them is yours. See how the setup process works, or read the guide to getting online ordering live in 30 days.

The timeline that avoids a panic

  1. This week: export your data and shortlist replacements.
  2. This month: pick a provider and start setup while GloriaFood still runs.
  3. Next month: run both systems side by side, move your QR codes, website buttons and social links to the new system.
  4. Well before April 2027: tell regulars about the new app, ideally with a first-order offer, and switch GloriaFood off on your own terms.

Common questions answered.

Oracle has announced GloriaFood will be fully retired on 30 April 2027. New account signups are already closed and existing accounts work until the cutoff.

No. Oracle has confirmed there is no migration path, no data export tool and no data retention after 30 April 2027. Export your menus, customer records and order history yourself, as early as possible.

Some providers offer free tiers, but GloriaFood is a lesson in how free platforms end. A flat, published monthly price with no commission is the more predictable model for a working restaurant.

With Aexir, setup is handled for you and is typically live in under 30 days, which leaves time to run the old and new systems side by side before the GloriaFood cutoff.

They need repointing at your new system before the cutoff. Do it during the side-by-side period so customers never hit a dead ordering page.

Build your own restaurant app.

Aexir launches branded ordering apps for UK restaurants in under 30 days. No marketplace commission. From £1/day.
